  • description: It’s essential that you square the table of your band saw to the BACK of your blade. Squaring the table to the flat of the blade gives you a square cut, the bandsawn edge is square to the top and bottom surfaces of the board. But if you make two cuts that meet in the middle of a board, as when cutting an inside corner, the table must also be square to the back of the blade for these cuts to meet properly. If the band saw blade leans forward, it will look as if the cuts meet on top of the board, but turn the board over and you’ll find they don’t meet at all! Should the blade lean backward, the cuts on the bottom will go past one another. Unfortunately, no band saw manufacturer that I know of makes this easy to adjust – you must add shims beneath the table, where the trunnion is attached. Figuring out how many shims to add will require some experimentation. It usually isn't much. To square up the WEN bandsaw shown in the video, I added .010" shims under two of the four trunnion mounts. But this little change made a big difference in the performance of the tool!
